New Chefs on the Block is an intimate, multi-year portrait of two chefs and their staffs in Washington, DC who struggle to open and maintain their first restaurants. The film begins with each restaurant under construction and follows them through their first year of business. Against all odds, one becomes the most famous new restaurant in America, winning Bon Appetit magazine’s Best New Restaurant in America award and a James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef Mid-Atlantic. The other redefines success while his wife mulls quitting her high-paying job to work at the pizza shop full-time. Starring Aaron Silverman of Rose’s Luxury and Frank Linn of Frankly…Pizza! About The Filmmaker

Dustin Harrison-Atlas is a freelance filmmaker based in Washington, DC. He has worked in the creative media industry for more than 14 years. Dustin worked for Discovery Communications for nearly three years before starting his own company and attending graduate school starting in 2008. In 2009, an environmental documentary film he co-produced and directed went on to be a National Finalist in the Student Academy Awards. In 2010, Dustin was given the high honor of Graduating with Distinction from American University’s Graduate School of Communication with an MFA in Film and Electronic Media. After graduating, he worked part-time as an adjunct professor at American University for 5 semesters. In 2011, Dustin was featured by LinkTV as a “Rising star in documentary filmmaking.” Originally from New England, Dustin has lived in the Washington, DC area for the past 17 years. New Chefs on the Block is his first feature film.
