About the Filmmaker

Daniele Anastasion is a director and writer with more than a decade of experience creating critically acclaimed documentaries and television series. She directed I AM YUP’IK for ESPN’s 30 for 30 Shorts, which premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. Her first feature, THE REDEMPTION OF GENERAL BUTT NAKED received the Sundance award for Best Cinematography and was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award. Daniele recently directed the ESPN series RUN MAMA RUN, about an elite runner’s attempt to train for the Olympics while pregnant, which the New York Times called “fascinating.” She was also a writer and producer of BELIEF, Oprah Winfrey’s epic series exploring faith and religion around the world.
