About The Filmmaker

Jairus McLeary is an American court videographer and filmmaker. Born in Chicago, his love for film began with set visits to local films such as THE BREAKFAST CLUB and FERRIS BUELER’S DAY OFF. After studying video ethnography in college, he moved to Los Angeles and worked in independent film production for nearly 10 years before his interest turned to the documentary. Participation in therapeutic programs with his father and brothers from the age of 16 eventually led to their collaboration with the men of Folsom Prison after many years gaining the trust of both the inmates and prison administration. THE WORK is his first feature-length documentary.
