Dwi Sujanti Nugraheni is a documentary filmmaker from Yogyakarta, Indonesia. She studied Political Science and Javanese Literature at Gadjah Mada University and worked for several NGOs both local and international before she turned to film-making. From 2002 -2012, she organized the Jogjakarta Documentary Film Festival and facilitates video workshops for adolescents and the deaf communities. She got Artist Fellowship from Asian Cultural Council New York In 2008. She worked as an intern at Appalshop / Appalachian Media Institute, Kentucky and Women Make Movies, New York City in 2009. In 2013 she got John Darling- Herb Feith Foundation Fellowship to take post graduate course for ethnographic film at Anthropology Department, Australian National University, Canberra, Australia. She is an alumni of Youth Media International Exchange 2007- USA, IDFA Summer School 2012- The Netherland, IDFA Academy 2012- The Netherland , Post-Production Studio Program at Berlinale Talents 2014- Germany, Talents Tokyo 2015-Japan, Asia Docs Workshop 2015 – Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Yamagata Rough Cut 2017- Japan, Yamagata Documentary Dojo 2018 -Japan, AFS Documentary Workshop 2019 – Los Angeles, USA. She made 2 feature length documentary: Denok & Gareng (2012) and Between The Devil and The Deep Blue Sea (2020) and some short docs.
