Coming from a family of artists, Youssef Sanheji decides to follow his parents’ path, not in theater but in cinema. He studied cinema at the Higher Institute of Multimedia Arts in Manouba where he produced a documentary “Cascade”, an experimental film “C2H6O” and a fiction film “A last REC”. He wrote and directed a fiction “AQUARIUM” that won Best Picture at ERATO Film Festival, and was included in the JCC Tunisian Film Festival, the KARAMA Film Festival in Jordan and the Africajarc Festival in France. Youssef’s experimental film “AQUA” won prizes at the Goethe Institute and IFT competitions and participated in the Inter Film Festival in Berlin and Clermont-Ferrand Festival in France. In 2018, his observational documentary ” 60 Waiting Shots and a Shot ” won Best Documentary at Tunisian Short Film Nights in Paris, and was selected for international competition at FIFAK, Whakapapa Film Festival in Italy, Afrika Film Festival in Belgium, Premiere Mediterranean Documentary Film Festival, Short Film Festival Gabes.
