Galen Knowles

galenfull-crop-u1533Galen Knowles grew up in a small New England town where the hills and light snow provided bite-sized training opportunities for the adventures ahead. At age ten, he sold his Playstation to buy a video camera and began exploring the ins and outs of filmmaking. He began working in the theatre as an actor only to become a lighting designer and technical director through high-school and college. At the start of his freshman year at Westminster College in SLC, UT, Galen was crafting ski/snowboard edits when he met Phil and Brolin who lived just down the dorm hall. Their passions collided and a documentary project was born called Far From Home. Galen directed and filmed over 450 hours of documentary footage and edited it into an award winning, 73 minute film that has premiered at 14 film festivals around the world. During that process, Galen shot and edited several commercial projects for the Weather Channel, I Ride Park City, Vimeo, RedBull, and Intel. He currently resides in Jackson Hole, Wyoming as a freelance director and avid mountain climber.
