Doe Mayer

Doe Mayer is a professor in the Film Production Program at the University of Southern California, School of Cinematic Arts where she has taught courses for over 30 years in documentary research and pre-production, directing documentary, creativity and media and social change. She has a joint appointment with USC’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism where she teaches courses in global storytelling and communication campaign design for non profits. She has produced, directed and provided technical support for hundreds of productions, both documentary and fiction, in the United States and more than twenty countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Pacific Islands and the Americas. Her work is primarily focused on using media for social change and health-based programs, on topics ranging from girls’ education and women’s Internet access to the prevention of HIV/AIDS and domestic violence. Her other areas of expertise include creativity, storytelling, and the use of media in strategic communication campaigns.

She has won numerous awards and recognition for her teaching and filmmaking and her work has been screened in festivals and events globally and throughout the US. She has been a Fulbright Senior Specialist in Australia and the Netherlands, and a Fulbright Scholar in Fiji.
