Envoys + Workshops
Envoys
Our roster of American filmmakers and top industry and media experts serve as envoys to countries around the world. Their expertise represents the full range of jobs that exist within the American film and TV industry, from cinematography to documentary filmmaking, production design, screenwriting, and animation.
Workshops
Our professional development workshops range from weeklong, hands-on training experiences organized by U.S. Embassies, to regional workshops, to our LA-based documentary residency, at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts.
Screening Tours
AFS partners with U.S. Embassies to produce weeklong screening tours, Q&A discussions, and media engagements for the filmmakers associated with our annual film slate, with the goal of discussing shared topics and challenges, while promoting cross-cultural dialogue.
The week in Cairo was an experience I'll treasure forever. Getting to meet so many creative, collaborative, and kind Egyptian writers was meaningful to me in so many ways, not just as a TV writer myself or as a teacher, but also as a human being. I had high hopes for the trip before I left, and it was an adventure that exceeded every one of them.-Rob Turbovsky, Co-Executive Producer, Only Murders in the Building
