Miriam Cutler

Three time Emmy nominated composer, Miriam Cutler, is passionate about documentaries. Her work includes HBO, CNN, PBS, Sundance, Emmy, and Oscar nominated films: Flannery, Dilemma of Desire, Not Carol, RBG, Love Gilda, The Hunting Ground, Ethel, Desert of Forbidden Art, American Promise, Lost in La Mancha, Thin, Poster Girl, Vito, KingsPoint, Ghosts of Abu Ghraib, A Plastic Ocean, and more. Co-Produced and Scored Dark Money and One Lucky Elephant. Lab Advisor for Sundance Documentary Composer Labs, doc juror for Sundance, AFI, Spirit, IDA Awards. Visiting Instructor Scoring For Visual Media/Cal Arts Spring 2019, Composer in Residence Columbia College of the Arts, Chicago/spring 2017. Consultant/workshops for CNN, International Documentary Association, Concordia and Global Media Makers. Has presented workshops in Iceland, Vienna, Spain, Tbilisi/Georgia, Malaysia, Germany, and various universities including USC, UCLA, Chapman College, Loyola Marymount. Co-produced Grammy-nominated live jazz albums for PolyGram/Verve: Joe Williams, Nina Simone. Motion Picture Academy Documentary Branch and Executive Committee member, served on Boards for Society of Composers and Lyricists and Co-Founder of Alliance for Women Film Composers, Executive Committee of TV Academy Music Branch, Film Expert for USC School of Cinema/US State Department’s American Film Showcase.
