Valerie C Martinez
Valerie Castillo Martinez is a Filipina American filmmaker who makes films that deal with underrepresented subjects, cross-cultural themes and flipping the usual narratives. Her short films have played in Berlin, Venice, Toronto, Busan and SXSW and have won numerous awards worldwide. Her first feature film as writer and producer, Death of Nintendo, premiered in Berlinale Generation in 2020. She is a Film Independent, Sundance, Rotterdam, Cine Qua Non Fellow and a Berlinale Talent. She is an adjunct professor at University of Southern California and Columbia University. She has an M.B.A. from Wilmington University, an M.F.A. in Film from Columbia University, and is a United States Air Force veteran.
She is a Film Independent and Sundance Fellow, Berlinale Talent and a participant of the Vilcek Foundation's New American Perspectives program. Valerie is currently an adjunct professor at Columbia University. She has an MBA from Wilmington University, an MFA from Columbia University, and is a US Air Force veteran.
