African Creative TV

ACTV: A Program for African Creatives

The African Creative TV Initiative is a first-of-its-kind professional development program designed to provide the necessary technical skills to support African TV creators who produce high-quality content for the global marketplace.

The primary goals of ACTV are to support sustainable industry development within African creative economies, build a regional network of African TV creatives, and elevate the role of creative producer in African TV.

What We Do

In its pilot cycle, ACTV selected eight African TV series from Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa. Sixteen African creative producers and screenwriters attended a month-long summer intensive residency at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts in Los Angeles where they workshopped their projects and discussed strategies for running their shows more effectively.

Follow on below-the-line workshops will take place in Africa and will focus on specific aspects of TV production, such as management, line producing, production design, and post-production.
